CLINTON —
Vivian Elizabeth Jones, 91, of Clinton, Iowa, slipped quietly into everlasting life on Thursday, February 7, at Mercy Living Center North.
Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, February 12, at Lemke Funeral Homes, South Chapel, west side of Clinton Lawn Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, February 11, at Lemke Funeral Homes, South Chapel. Burial will take place at Rose Hill Cemetery, Camanche Iowa, immediately following the funeral service. Lemke Funeral Homes is assisting the family with arrangements.
Vivian was born to Dorthea and Joseph McCray on June 26, 1921. She lived on Beaver Island as a child before moving to Clinton. She married Robert Stauffer on September 6, 1938. They had three daughters. Robert passed in 1952. She married Harold “Bud” Jones on September 8, 1956. They had one daughter. Harold passed in 1976.
She was happy to be a homemaker all of her life. She was kind and loving and would do anything for anyone. She remembered every birthday, anniversary or death date. She never missed the “Lawrence Welk Show.” She enjoyed doing circle a words puzzles and swinging on her patio swing. She said it was the one thing she missed doing when, at age 90, she could no longer live by herself. In 2011, she moved to Mercy Living Center North where she was well cared for. She enjoyed living there and loved the staff.
Visitation, funeral and burial ceremonies will be officiated by Joey Baker. Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Noah, Joseph, Seth, Riley Baker, Steve and Jim Lockhart. Honorary pallbearer is Codis Baker.
Vivian is survived by four daughters, Carol (Terry) TenBoer of Wyoming, Mary (Richard) Sanchez of California, Debbie (Joey) Baker of Clinton, IA, Vicki (Bruce) Buntemeyer of Follets, IA; 16 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Darlene (Jim) Fitzpatrick.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, John and Harry McCray; one sister, Marian Wagner; and three stepchildren, Bev McNamara, Bobby Jones and Jeanne Grizel.
