Kathleen M. Eggers, age 80, of Clinton, passed away Wednesday, August 15, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center North.
Funeral services will be held 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 20, at the Pape Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 20, at the funeral home. Following the funeral service, cremation rites will be accorded and burial will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Bryant. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com.
Kathleen was born in Clinton County, Iowa, on June 8, 1932, the daughter of John and Loretta (Roling) Wagemester Sr. She graduated from Miles High School. She married Adrian Scheckel on April 30, 1957, in Bryant; he died in 1963. She later married Rae Eggers on April 24, 1971, in Clinton, Iowa; he died in 2011. Kathleen worked in housekeeping at Mercy North Medical Center in Clinton. She and her husband, Rae, owned and operated Doyle’s Tavern for many years. She enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening and going to the casino.
Kathleen is survived by her children, Phillip Scheckel of Clinton, Cecelia (Jon) Sikkema of Fulton, IL, Debra (Timothy) Leslie of Clinton and Angela (Brian) Frasier of Morrison, IL; 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Theresa (Harold) Schaefer of Dubuque, IA, and Eleanor (Gene) Gerlach of Bellevue, IA; a brother-in-law, John (Eileen) Kurt of DeWitt, IA, and Dennis (Sandy) Scheckel DeWitt, IA ; sisters-in-law, Joy Jarrett of Iowa City, IA, Mary (Ferris) Sullivan Preston, IA, Naomi (LaVerne) Till of Springbrook, IA, Carmen (Clarence) Weis of Galena, IA, Doris (Stephen) Tremkamp of Preston, IA, Marcie (Roland) Harding of Durant, OK, and Judy Scheckel of Brownsville, NC; and three stepsisters and a stepbrother.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, a brother and a sister.
