Arnold M. “Junior” Meyer, age 79, of Goose Lake, IA, died Friday Nov. 30, 2012 at his home.
According to his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. A private family memorial service is planned. A gathering of friends and family will be held 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4th, at the Goose Lake Community Center. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family. Arnold was born on Oct. 11, 1933 in Clinton, IA, the son of Arnold H. and Merina (Bielenberg) Meyer. He graduated from Goose Lake Consolidated School in 1952. He was a veteran in the US Army, serving in France. He married Lucille Gradert on Nov. 23, 1957 in Preston, IA. Junior worked with his father at Meyer’s Ford Garage and at Northeast Schools as Transportation Director for 28 years, retiring in 1996. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and spending winters in Florida the past 12 years.
Arnold is survived by his wife, Lucille of Goose Lake; three children, Kim Burken of Goose Lake, Michael Meyer of Goose Lake, and Tami (Kevin) Empen of Preston, IA; three grandchildren, Danielle and Jacob Meyer, and Seth (April) Burken; three great grandchildren, Tatumn, Mackenna, and Kade.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Broc, and two brothers, Victor and Lauren.
