John Glenn Armstrong Jr., 74, of Fulton, Illinois, passed away at his residence on February 14, 2013.
Funeral services will take place at noon on Thursday, February 21, at Lemke Funeral Homes, South Chapel, west side of Clinton Lawn Cemetery. A visitation will take place two hours prior to the funeral service from 10 a.m. to noon on Thursday at Lemke Funeral Homes, South Chapel. Burial will take place at Clinton Lawn Cemetery immediately following the funeral service. Lemke Funeral Homes is assisting the family with arrangements.
John was born June 11, 1938, in Clinton, Iowa, the son of John Sr. and Ardell (Studeman) Armstrong. He was a 1957 graduate of Northeast High School. On February 13th, 1965, he was united in marriage to Shirley Bos in Fulton, Illinois.
John worked for Northwestern Wire in Sterling, Illinois, as a steel worker; he retired from Northwestern Wire after 30 plus years.
John led a simple and quiet life after retirement.
John is survived by his wife, Shirley; six sons: John (Anne) Williams of Clinton, IA, Glenn Armstrong of Clinton, IA, Guy Armstrong of Clinton, IA, Gary Armstrong of Clinton, IA, Rodney Armstrong of Hoffman Estates, IL, Roger (Tina) Armstrong of Clinton, IA; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ann Edwards of Neosha, MO, and Mary Jean Jones of Clinton, IA; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather.
