MORRISON, Ill. —

Herbert “Perk” Benson, 86, of Morrison, died Friday, March 8, 2013, at Morrison Community Hospital.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 12, 2013, at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Morrison. The Rev. Bob Burton, pastor of Bethesda Lutheran Church in Morrison, will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 11, 2013, at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Morrison. The Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Interment will be in Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison.
Memorials may be made to Bethesda Lutheran Church in Morrison.
He was born July 25, 1926, in Solvesborg, Blekinge County, Sweden, to Nels and Nellie Maria (Mattson) Benson.
He was educated in the McCallister Grade School in rural Whiteside County and graduated from Morrison High School in 1944.
He married Isabelle J. Van Dellen on August 24, 1955, in Fulton, Ill.
Herbert first was employed as a truck driver in the Morrison area. He then engaged in farming in rural Whiteside County.
Herbert was a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church in Morrison. He was a board member of the Morrison Elevator, Morrison, and a member of the Whiteside County Cattleman’s Association. He enjoyed bowling.
Survivors include his wife, Isabelle; one daughter, Mary Kay (LeRoy) Wright of Morrison; two sons, Eric (Mary) Benson of Morrison and Steve (Lori) Benson of Morrison; five grandchildren: Nichole Wright, Jason Wright; Kenny (Alesha McCart) Benson, Michael (Ashley) Benson; Abby Benson; and one brother, George Benson of Morrison.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Keith Benson; one granddaughter, Ashton Wright; and one sister, Mildred Benson.
