Private family services for Evelyn R. “Evy” Gustafsson, age 90, of Norfolk, Nebraska, will be held at a later date at Prospect Hill Cemetery in Norfolk.
Brockhaus-Howser-Fillmer Funeral Home of Norfolk is in charge of arrangements.
Evy died Tuesday, October 30, 2012, at Heritage of Bel-Air in Norfolk.
Evelyn R. “Evy” (Braseth) Gustafsson, daughter of Carl and Ella Marie (Widme) Braseth, was born August 11, 1922, at Grafton, North Dakota. After graduation from high school and attending college for a year, Evy was married to Ross Gustafsson on January 15, 1944, at Grand Forks, North Dakota. The couple was blessed with two sons: Bill and Paul. Ross passed away on February 2, 2006, at the age of 85, and Evy continued to live in Norfolk, Nebraska, until her death on October 30, 2012, at the age of 90.
Evy is survived by her sons, Bill Gustafsson and wife Barb of Norfolk, Nebraska, and Paul Gustafsson and wife Paula of Highlanville, Iowa; granddaughters, Kerry Gustafsson of Lincoln, Nebraska, Sara Nitz and husband Glen of Pierce, Nebraska (and their children, Cooper Wachholtz and Blair Evelyn Nitz of Pierce, Nebraska, and Michaela Nitz and Nicole Nitz of Dixon, Nebraska), Nicole Gustafsson and husband Matt Nottage-Tacy of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Jenna Walker and husband Andy of Shoreline, Washington; and grandson, Eric Gustafsson of Fargo, North Dakota.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, to make a donation to Shepherd of Peace Lutheran Church, 500 North 37th Street, Norfolk, Nebraska; the Norfolk Rescue Mission, 111 North 9th Street; Norfolk Public Library, 308 Prospect Avenue; or the Norfolk Arts Center, 305 North 5th Street.
