Helen E. Port

MORRISON, Ill. — Helen E. Port, 80, of Morrison, died Monday, February 20, 2012, at Morrison Community Hospital.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, February 24, 2012, at Ebenezer Reformed Church, Morrison. The Rev. Gerald H. Norman, pastor of Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison, will be officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, February 23, 2012, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. Interment will be in Grove Hill Cemetery, Morrison.

Memorials may be made to the Ebenezer Reformed Church Endowment Fund.

She was born February 21, 1931, in Morrison to Henry & Effie (Brondyke) Dornbush.

She was educated in the Bunker Hill Grade School of rural Whiteside County and graduated from Erie High School, Erie, Ill.

She married Kenneth A. Port on February 24, 1950, in Morrison; he died January 31, 1986.

Helen provided childcare out of her home for over 30 years.

She was a member of Ebenezer Reformed Church, Morrison, where she was a prayer partner and involved in Bible study groups. She was also a 4-H leader for many years.

Survivors include two daughters, Sandra (Terry) Leaf of Sterling, Ill., Patricia (Carl) Jones of North Billerica, MA; three granddaughters, Keri Leaf, Kelly Sterling, Katie Sterling; four great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Madisyn, Sofia, Nicholas; one sister, Phyllis Geerts, Albany, Ill.; four brothers, Eugene (Betty) Dornbush, Fulton, Ill., Harlan Dornbush of Erie, Ill., Lester (Julia) Dornbush of Fulton, Ill., Allen P. Dornbush of Albany, Ill; one brother-in-law, David Ottens of Morrison, Ill.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; two sons, Arnold Ray and Arlyn Kent in infancy; four sisters, Kathryn Dornbush, Audrey Sikkema, Sharon Ottens and Shirley Dornbush in infancy; one sister-in-law, Catherine Dornbush; and one brother-in-law, Leonard P. Geerts Sr.
