Ward A. Nickles, age 79, of Clinton, IA, died Friday, Sept. 21, 2012 at Mercy Medical Center South. There will be no local funeral services held. Burial is scheduled Friday Oct. 5th at Desert View Cemetery in Victorville, CA. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com.
Ward was born on June 1, 1933 in Phoenix, AZ, the son of Cecil and Elna (Thompson) Nickles. Ward was a U.S. National Guard veteran. He married Arlleen Wolverton on September 12, 1970 in Los Angeles, CA; she died in April 2007. Ward was a High School Administrator and Principal with the California Public School System.
Ward is survived by his five sons, Ashton (Stephanie) Nickles of Clinton, Christopher Nickles of Fontana, CA, Sean Nickles of Redding, CA, Chandler Nickles of Clinton, and Brandon Nickles of Las Vegas, NV; three daughters, Angelique (Brett) Guyatt of Bend, OR, Carol Bixler of Phoenix, AZ, and Sara Nickles of Clinton; 10 grandchildren; and two sisters, Dorothy Beckstead of West Jordan, UT and Sandra Banks of Fairfax, VA.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
