Norine M. Coers, 92, of Cordova, IL, died Wednesday, January 30, 2013, at Aspen Rehab and Health Care, Silvis, IL.
Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, February 2, 2013, at Gibson-Bode Funeral Home, Port Byron. Burial will be at the Cordova Cemetery, Cordova, IL. Visitation will be from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Aspen Rehab and Health Care or to a charity of choice.
Norine was born March 11, 1920, in Whitewater, Wisconsin, the daughter of Roswell and Myrtle (Way) McCaslin. She married Harold Coers on October 8, 1938, in Clinton, IA. He preceded her in death in 1995. Norine was employed at the Cordova Post Office where she retired after 25 years of service. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cordova. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family, especially attending her grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s activities. Norine will always be remembered for her hours and hours of mowing.
Norine is survived by her children, Wayne Coers, Cordova, Juanita (Jerry) Nelms, Cordova; 6 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-granddaughter.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers, Kenneth and Milo McCaslin; and a sister, Dolores Hoppe.
