George L. VanLoo, age 81, of Fulton, died Thursday, February 14, 2013, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City.
George was born June 1, 1931, in Sheffield the son of August and Elma (Bohart) VanLoo. He married Julia Giltner on April 14, 1951, in Sheffield. He was employed by Standard Oil for 25 years, most recently as district manager, and retired in 1980. George was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fulton. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, traveling, camping, gardening and reading.
Survivors include his wife of Fulton; three daughters, Janet (John) Tappe of Westboro, WI, Teresa (Gerald) Etzel of Rome, GA, and Nancy (Larry) Anglese of Albany; three sons, Tim (Ramona) VanLoo of Colona, Joseph (Kathy) VanLoo of Fulton and Neal (Donell) VanLoo of Janesville, WI; thirteen grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be Saturday, February 16, 2013, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fulton. Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the church. Burial will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at St. Patrick Church Cemetery in Sheffield.
A memorial has been established. The family requests that donations be made to your charity of choice.
