1921-2012
Charles H. “Chuck” Himes, 90, of Clinton, Iowa, died Tuesday, October 9, 2012, at Mercy Living Center South, Clinton. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, October 12, 2012, at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the service hour at the funeral home.
Chuck was born December 28, 1921, in Enid, OK, the son of Grover David and Marie (Meiers) Himes. He married Betty Kenyon in Enid, OK, on March 27, 1946.
Chuck was a very active Kiwanis member for 32 years. He enjoyed working in his yard, golfing, bowling, fishing and spending time with his family and friends.
He retired in 1975 from the U.S. Army as command sergeant major after 30 years in the artillery. He was a veteran of World War II, Korea and Vietnam.
Survivors his wife, Charlene Betty Himes, of Clinton; daughter, Charlotte Marie Colberg of Tulsa, OK; and brother, Benny Lee (Patsy) Himes of Tulsa, OK.
Chuck was preceded in death by his son, Russell Gene Himes; parents, two brothers and six sisters.
Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.
