Harriet J. VanDerLeest, 80, of Morrison, died Sunday August 12, 2012, at her home.
She was born on June 20, 1932, in Morrison, the daughter of Dick J. and Willemina (Vos) Bush and attended Morrison Schools. She married Donald VanDerLeest on June 27, 1952, in Morrison. Harriet was employed by Morrison School District as bookkeeper/treasurer for many years; was co-owner of the former Morrison Locker Service with her husband, Don; and had worked as a receptionist at the Whiteside County Health Department and the Whiteside County Farm Bureau in Morrison. She was a member of Ebenezer Reformed Church, Morrison and was as a volunteer at Mercy Hospital in Clinton, IA.
Surviving is her husband, Don; her daughter, Linda VanDerLeest of Geneseo, IL; her son, Larry (Sandi) VanDerLeest of Morrison; two grandchildren, Kyle and Shayna VanDerLeest; “special family,” Tisha Bush, Wesley Bush and Colton Bush; and her sister-in-law, Roberta Bush of Erie, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Harvey Bush.
Visitation will be held on Friday August 17, 2012, from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison, IL. The funeral will follow at noon at the church with Kenneth Renkes officiating. Burial will be at Grove Hill Cemetery. Arrangement completed by the McDonald Funeral Home, Fulton.
