C. J. Condon, 76, of rural Maquoketa, Iowa, died on Friday evening, October 12, 2012, at his home.

Funeral Services will be held at  10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 18, 2012, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Petersville.

Family and friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Lahey Funeral Home in Maquoketa, where a rosary will be held at 6:30 p.m.

Visitation will also be held on Thursday from 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Petersville, Iowa.

C. J. was born October 6, 1936 in Rock Island, Illinois, to Thomas Francis and Helen (Hull) Condon.

He graduated in 1955 from St. Ambrose Academy in Davenport.

C. J. worked at Caterpiller in Mt. Joy, retiring in 1987.

He also worked at Lovewell Fence Company in Davenport.

He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Petersville, the National Rifle Association, and Moose Lodge #28 of Davenport.

He was a lifelong aviation enthusiast and was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association.

Survivors include 7 children, Joe Condon of Bullhead City, Arizona, Pat Condon of Davenport, Kelly (Paul) Jacobs of Maquoketa, Sean (Linda) Condon of Shakopee, Minnesota, Erin Condon and Thomas “Tuck” (Molly) Condon, both of Davenport, and Celestine (Joe) Hlubek of Bryant; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one sister, Eleanor (Tom) Flynn of Aurora, Colorado and one brother, Leo “Doc” Condon of Davenport.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Dennis and Richard.
