Port Townsend, Wash. —
Ruth Edens danced for the last time as she twirled off the planet from Port Townsend, WA, on September 28th, 2012; just before the full Harvest Moon shined brightly. When you plant the corn in the spring and do that slow, sideways shuffle, barefoot down the row- the Indian Corn Dance, think of her.
Born of a fireman on a steam engine in the Clinton rail yards, Ralph W. Edens, and a waitress at Circle G and Machaels (best burgers in town) Millie Coleman Edens Martzahn Alm, she fulfilled destiny by making the fire and serving the food.
Her children are: Jeri Moe and Teresa Green, of Austin, TX, Corby L. Harty of Minneapolis, MN, Justin Harty, heavenly guy, Mya Honeywell of St. Paul, MN, Cedar Honeywell Kirtley of Mahtomedi, MN and Mo Honeywell of Minneapolis, MN.
Her grandchildren are: Tanner, Logan Autrey and Emma Moe; Megan and Garrett Harty; Oliver, Aiden, Huxley and Webster Honeywell; Sullivan and Addison Kirtley.
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body; rather to skid in sideways, herbs in one hand, wine in the other, body thoroughly used up and worn out screaming WOO HOO what a ride!
Additionally there will be a Celebration of Life for Ruth Edens’ Clinton and Camanche friends at The Lighthouse, 622 So. Washington Blvd., Saturday, October 13th 2-5pm, in Camanche, Iowa.
