Carla Jean Coughlin, formerly of Thomson, Illinois, age 48, died at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012, at her residence in Batchtown, Illinois after battling an illness.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Monday, November 26, 2012 at Hanks-Gress Funeral Home in Hardin, Illinois. A second visitation will be held 10:00 – 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at Law-Jones Funeral Home in Thomson, Illinois. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at Law-Jones Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Lower York Cemetery, Thomson. She was born Dec. 11, 1963, in Savanna, Illinois, the daughter of Carl T. Hamm of Fulton, Illinois and the late Ruby J. (Remrey) Hamm. She married her best friend, Darren C. "Chris" Coughlin, Nov. 28, 1997 in Potosi, Mo.. Carla was a bartender and restaurant worker. She enjoyed going on the river, gardening, taking care of the hummingbirds and spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Chris; father, Carl; four nephews, a niece, two great-nieces and a long time companion Heidi (her dog), 4 brothers, Phil Hamm of Batchtown, John (Brenda), Mike and Keith Hamm all of Thomson.
In addition to her mother, her grandparents, William and Edith Hamm, and Charles and Nellie Remrey, and several Aunts and Uncles, preceded her in death.
