Karl R. Turner, age 55, of Morrison, died Saturday, November 24, 2012, at 12:10 a.m. at Manor Care Home in Davenport, Iowa, while being assisted by Heartland Veterans Hospice. He was a union electrician, member of IBEW #145 in Moline for 20 years.
Karl was born May 31, 1957, in Sterling, IL, the son of Clarence B. and Geneva (Balk) Turner. He attended Rock Falls High School. He also served six years as a Marine from 1975 – 1981. His favorite past time activity was riding his Harley Davidson Fatboy and Trike. He was also a racing enthusiast. Karl drove an American Super Cup for four years at various tracks across the Midwest.
Survivors include his mother, Geneva, of Morrison; his sisters, Roxann (Jerry) Folsum, Marlene Turner and friend; Kay (Stan) Bates; Cindy (Les) Swanson; several nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and nephews; his best friend, Debbie of Queensland, Australia; and his best buddy, Maxwell.
He was preceded in death by his father, stepfather, grandparents and one nephew.
Visitation will be Saturday, December 1, 2012, from 4 to 7:30 p.m. at the McDonald Funeral Home in Fulton. Funeral services, with military honors, will be Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home with Chaplain Jack Brown officiating.
A memorial has been established to Heartland Hospice in Bettendorf, Iowa.
