Connie Jo Newsom, age 61, of Goose Lake, passed away Saturday, February 9, 2013, at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 13, 2013, at the Pape Funeral Home, Clinton. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Alan Schultz, Joe Newsom, Paul Green, John Newsom Jr., John Schultz and John Newsom Sr.
Connie was born in Rock Island on February 4, 1952, the daughter of Frederick and Helen (Shirkey) Schultz. She married Wayne I. Newsom on January 13, 1973, in East Moline. Connie enjoyed crafts, especially making Christmas ornaments, needlework, knitting, reading and working puzzles.
Connie is survived by her husband, Wayne; three children, Renee (James) Gregorich of Storm Lake, Robert Newsom of Goose Lake and William Newsom of Greene, IA; two grandchildren, Alena Gregorich and Tobias Burmeister; two sisters, Nancy (Martin) Corey of Silvis and Teresa (Douglas) Esher of Smithton, IL; a brother, Frederick (Rosemary) Schultz Jr. of Colona; an aunt and uncle, Norva and Myron Williams of Milan; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Edward James Schultz. Online condolences can be left at www.papefh.com.
