SAVANNA, Ill. — Grace Bogue, 93, died Thursday, December 17, 2009, at Big Meadows Nursing Home in Savanna. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, December 20, 2009 at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna. Visitation will be 1 p.m. until the time of services.
Private graveside services will be scheduled at a later date in Savanna Township Cemetery after cremation.
Grace Bernice Morgan was born May 16, 1916, in Bancroft, Wis., a daughter of Fred and Mollie (Mary Troup) Morgan. She graduated in 1938 from Central State Teachers College in Stevens Point, Wis., and taught English to thousands of students in Savanna schools over nearly 40 years. She married William Thomas Bogue on May 16, 1942, at Community United Church of Christ in Savanna. He died in 1998.
Throughout her life, she shared with her many friends and students her love of reading and learning.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Dianne and John Morgano of Milwaukee, Wis., and Carol and Dan Hayes of Bettendorf, Iowa; a sister, Gladys James of Savanna; grandchildren, John Morgano Jr., Christine Buchta, Scott Morgano, Michael Hayes and Karen Barrows; 11 great-grandchildren, and many dear friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Heartland Pet Welfare in Savanna or a favorite charity. The family extends deep appreciation to the staff of Big Meadows and Genesis Hospice. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.lawjonesfuneralhome.com.
