CLINTON —
This year’s election may be one of the most important to the future of our children ever — especially daughters, granddaughters, and nieces.
When we elect a president, we also elect a First Lady. The role of the First Lady has become extremely important over the last several presidential terms. Barack and Michelle Obama and Joe and Jill Biden have worked tirelessly these past four years to improve education and health for everyone, and women’s employment, pay and personal rights. They have also stood up for the special needs of military families.
The Aug. 19, Taylorville (Ill.) Breeze-Courier carried a comparison between Michelle Obama and Ann Romney. There is no comparison, it’s like apples compared to oranges. I quote:

Apples to oranges. Which do you want to inspire your daughters, granddaughters, nieces? Which do you want to set an example for their careers and caring about the wider community?
If Romney/Ryan are elected, women especially stand to lose rights and privileges in almost every part of their lives – they have pledged to cut education for everyone, and to destroy almost all the employment, pay, and personal rights women have gained over decades.
During the last debate, as to what he would do for the country, Romney stated, “I have a five-point plan,” “I have a plan” over and over. Did he ever explain that plan? NO. He said several times, “I want to create jobs,” “I know how to create jobs.”
Did he ever explain how he would create jobs? NO.
Women’s employment in the past two years with President Obama’s policies has returned to almost the level before the huge drop caused by the previous administration’s policies.
The national employment rate for everyone now stands at 92.2 percent employed — rarely do you hear that statistic. Every measurement of the economy is steadily improving. Let’s keep it going.
For your daughters, granddaughters, and nieces especially, and for the future of us all —please vote Obama/Biden.
