CLINTON —
One of the most senseless and heinous acts to be perpetrated on one or more is remorseless violence.
The sad commentary and catch 22 of the situation is when the economy weakens and local, state and federal governments tighten money; it is the elderly, poor, children and mentally ill who suffer and ironically perpetuates and/or exacerbates an already unacceptable situation.
Then slowly like a cancer it metastasizes into a high degree of apathy toward the plight of others and leads to a break-down in social order.
When I heard the city of Clinton was losing its Women’s Resource Center at first I thought it was a cruel joke; however to my horror I found out it is a strong reality this much-needed shelter for women and children will close — a call to action is needed.
Our city is filled with good people who know what to do when the time is right and now is the right time to save this important safe haven. To be emotionally, physically or sexually traumatized and then to have no where to turn to and professionals and empathetic individuals close to help create a safe environment is barbarically causing more unneeded trauma.
Wake up and open your hearts and minds to a situation that can be prevented. This is about paying it forward. This is about doing the right thing. This is about saving lives and perhaps one day your own or a friend or loved one. Ask not what your community can do for you — ask what I can do to save the Women’s Resource Center.
