CLINTON —
As the River City Municipal Band’s 2012 season comes to a close for another year we would like to thank those of you living in and around Clinton, by attending a show, making charitable donations, or supporting our efforts in some way.
The band had quite an extensive summer schedule playing a dozen concerts in ten different locales around Iowa and Illinois.
The only way you can achieve such a feat in a short time is with the help of others outside the organization.
The Clinton Herald and KROS Radio are our voice to you with timely publicity throughout the concert season. The Clinton Recreation Department has been our home base for two years now and Gregg Obren and his staff do a fantastic job of getting our equipment to the concerts as well as to offer us a great place to rehearse.
Ours is a volunteer band, so without public and private donations we would not survive to play another piece.
A huge thank you goes to all of our major donors from the public and private sector of the River Cities. Our group was able to purchase a public address system this summer, making a huge difference at our shows. Through the generosity of individual citizens we added desperately needed sheet music to our library. Thanks to one and all for your support; it is deeply appreciated.
Thank you to all of the concert promoters who worked with the band to allow us to play for you. From our new friends across the river in Fulton to the various committees in charge of the wonderful Memorial Day, Fourth of July, and RAGBRAI celebrations.
We’ll be talking to you all again next spring in hopes of putting together another gig or two.
Finally, I would like to thank the best bunch of people I’ve ever known. Our musical group comes together for just a short time each year, but we share stories, work together as a team, laugh a lot, and make some of the best live music in the area.
Anyone who thinks that sounds like something they would like to do needs to call the Ericksen Center at 243-1260 for details in signing up. We would love to have you.
On behalf of the RCMB, thank you again to the people of Clinton, Camanche, and Fulton. It was a fantastic summer and we plan on doing it all over again in 2013!
Mike Adair,
River City Municipal Band president
