Special to the Herald
The Clinton RAGBRAI committee is looking for used bicycles to help decorate the town as a way to welcome the approximately 15,000 RAGBRAI bicyclists who will conclude their 471-mile journey to the Mississippi River dip site on July 28.
The committee is looking for any and all bicycle donations. They need not be in working condition. These bikes can be tarnished, bent or have missing pieces.
If there is a story to go with the bike, all the better.
If anyone is interested in donating a bicycle, understand that the bikes will not be returned, as they will be used to decorate the route to the boat ramp.
Bikes will also be available for residents to use in their yards to decorate. If interested contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
The community is encouraged to decorate their lawns as well.
Organizers would like to offer a warm and exciting welcome to returning and new visitors.
“We are hoping people along the route will decorate their yards in red, white, and blue with flowers, balloons, flags, painted bicycles, signs, etc., and also get out and cheer the RAGBRAI riders on when they go through our community on July 28,” Cathy Crosser said.
After RABGRAI, the donated bicycles will be recycled, and the money will be donated to the local bike club in Clinton.
