Mount Mercy College senior inducted into International Honor Society
CEDAR RAPIDS — Mount Mercy senior nursing student Carissa Griffin, from Clinton, was inducted into Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society for Nursing on Dec. 2.
Griffin is the daughter of Creighton and Peggy Regenwether.
The mission of the Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International, is to support the learning, knowledge, and professional development of nurses committed to making a difference in health worldwide.
Mount Mercy’s nursing major is approved by the Iowa Board of Nursing and accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education to provide an educational program that builds on natural and behavioral sciences and integrates the liberal arts with professional courses. Following completion of the requirements for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree, graduates take the national licensure examination prior to beginning their nursing careers working in hospitals, clinics, home care agencies, schools, public health or any number of other settings. Graduates are prepared for advanced studies to become clinical specialists or nurse practitioners.

Whole-grade sharing nears
Members of the Northeast Community School Board have approved the draft of a whole-grade sharing agreement with the East Central School District and will hold a public hearing on the proposal in the elementary library in Goose Lake at 7 p.m. Monday.
