Ashford University presents student awards
CLINTON — As its fall semester came to a close, Ashford University held a ceremony on Dec. 3 to present awards to campus students who had achieved academic excellence, and to recognize outstanding faculty members.
During the ceremony, special student awards were presented to:
n Sherry Luskey, Charlotte, the Accounting Student Award, sponsored by the Iowa Society of Certified Public Accountants to recognize the top accounting graduate;
n Edwin Enriquez, Quito, Ecuador, the Business Department’s Scholars Award, given to the highest ranking graduate in business;
n Amber Marlowe, Charlotte, the James L. Mooney Social Science Award, which recognizes the Social Science graduate with the highest grade point average;
n Tasha Wagner, Clinton, the Joan Walsh Richeson Award, given to the liberal arts major who best personifies the values of a liberal arts education and
n Kathryn House, Miles, the Alex Esquivel Promising Teacher Award, given to a teacher education graduate who shows exceptional potential as an educator.
Dr. Hope Gardina, Vice President of Academic Affairs, announced that faculty members Sr. Theresa Judge, College of Arts and Science; David Stedwell, College of Business and Professional Studies; and Sr. Marilyn Shea will receive “Dean’s Choice Awards” next spring from the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development.

Whole-grade sharing nears
Members of the Northeast Community School Board have approved the draft of a whole-grade sharing agreement with the East Central School District and will hold a public hearing on the proposal in the elementary library in Goose Lake at 7 p.m. Monday.

Clinton schools receive grants from Education Foundation
CLINTON — The Clinton Community School District Education Foundation has announced it has awarded each school in the district a $1,000 grant to assist with the ongoing development and success of students.

HIGH HONOR ROLL - Clinton Community College Dean’s, President’s List CLINTON — Clinton Community College has announced the Fall 2009 Dean’s List. Students must earn a minimum of six credit hours and a 3.5 GPA during the term.
- Human resources scholarships are available CLINTON — The Gateway Human Resource Association is announcing the availability of two $500 scholarships to residents of Whiteside and Clinton counties intending to enter human resources or a related field as a career.
