CLINTON —
Representatives from Hy-Vee presented Prince of Peace Schools with a new SMART board Monday morning.
Principal Nancy Peart was delighted to be receiving the educational tool through Hy-Vee’s SMART Points promotion. She joked that her biggest problem will be deciding who gets the SMART board.
“It’s a great teaching tool to be used. It certainly engages students,” Peart said.
Hy-Vee launched its SMART Points program in 2009. From Sept. 1 to Nov. 30, shoppers purchasing Procter & Gamble products at the store earned points that could be designated to the school of their choice.
Prince of Peace achieved the highest average points score in its region, according to a press release from Clinton Hy-Vee Store Director Chris DeSaulniers.
Kindergarten Student Cameron Williams also received a gift of a new 16GB iPad 2.
His mother, Renee Williams, designated the most points to Prince of Peace.
“Prince of Peace is a really great school and we’re really pleased with having them here,” Renee Williams said. She added that she could not think of a better school to receive a new SMART board.
According to the press release, more than 200 schools throughout the Midwest received SMART boards through the program. DeSaulniers thanked Procter & Gamble as well as the customers who made the donation possible.
“When schools and businesses are able to work together to provide learning opportunities for students, everyone in the community wins,” DeSaulniers said.
