CLINTON —
More people were employed in the Clinton area in November than the month prior, new data from the Iowa Workforce Development Office shows.
According the report, the not seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in Clinton was at 5.3 percent in November. In October, 5.6 percent of the Clinton workforce was unemployed.
The Clinton workforce also increased by 80 people from October to November, with another 130 obtaining jobs.
Clinton County also saw positive news on the report. The county’s unemployment rate was at 5 percent in November, down from 5.2 percent in October.
The report also shows that the workforce in Clinton County increased by 200 people, while the number employed increased by 250. Jackson County also saw a dip in unemployment. Numbers from November show the county saw a 4.4 percent unemployment rate, down .2 percent from the 4.6 percent unemployment rate in October.
Unlike Clinton and Clinton County, however, Jackson County lost 70 people from its labor force.
The unemployment figures in Clinton and Clinton County remain slightly higher than the state unemployment numbers.
The statewide seasonally adjusted unemployment rate dropped from 5.1 percent in October to 4.9 percent in November.
Iowa’s unemployment rate sits nearly 3 percent below the U.S. unemployment rate, which was at 7.7 percent in November.
