Person injured in Clinton house fire

CLINTON — An occupant of a Clinton home was injured after being trapped inside the burning residence early Sunday morning.

Clinton Fire Department responded to 2351 Chancy Street shortly after 1:30 a.m. Sunday morning to a call of a possible structure fire with one occupant unable to get out of the house, according to Battalion Chief Michael McQuistion.

When crews arrived they found light smoke coming from the residence and were informed one person was still inside the house. Firefighters went into the home and extinguished the fire in the room it had started, where the occupant was located.

After being extracted from the home, the occupant was then transported to Mercy Medical North.

Crews were on scene until 2:57 a.m. performing salvage, overhaul, investigation and securing the scene. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
