Farros deliver 1st baby of 2013

CLINTON — Warren John Farro was the first baby to be born in Clinton County in 2013.

Emily Farro, 33, of Low Moor, was making ammunition when she went into labor Tuesday morning. She and her husband, Elliot, own Farro’s Lead Farm, which deals and manufactures guns and ammunition. The couple recently moved back to the area after Elliott completed eight years of active duty in the Army.

Emily and Elliott drove down from Low Moor and she was admitted to Mercy Medical Center at approximately 6:30 p.m. Warren was born at 12:13 p.m, at 21 inches long and weighing 9 pounds, 1 ounce.

With Emily’s due date on Dec. 31, they knew that he would be born close to New Year’s Eve. However, it was not until Elliot heard a nurse mention it, that he realized his son would be the first baby born in 2013. He said he was walking down the hospital hallway, waiting for the delivery when he heard the nurse talking.

“She said, ‘I think we’re going to have the first baby in Clinton County,’” Elliott said.

The couple waited to find out the baby’s gender. They have a 3-year-old daughter Lillian. While Elliot was half-way rooting for another girl, Emily thought the baby might be a boy. If he had been a girl, his name would have been Violet. Instead he was named Warren John Farrow. The middle name, John, is a family name on Elliott’s side. The couple chose Warren just because it sounded “cool.”

“It sounded pretty Republican. That’s what we were going for,” Elliot said.

Emily is thankful to all of the staff at Mercy Medical Center. Emily and Warren should be released this morning.
