Solid waste bills to be mailed to Clinton residents

CLINTON — Residents should anticipate a special bill in their mailbox within the next two weeks as the city sends bills for the solid waste flat fee that was implemented earlier this year but never billed.

Residents who have been utilizing the service since the $5.25 flat fee was implemented in May can anticipate a $42 bill.

The bills will need to be paid by Dec. 10, Finance Director Jessica Kinser said.

“We’re preparing for the flood of phone calls,” she said to Internal Operations Committee members “And I advise you to be prepared as well.”

Some customers will also receive special notes on their bills relating to information such as outstanding or credit balances.

On the other hand, customers will not see monthly billing within the next month.

According to Kinser, data migration problems have prevented the monthly billing from going into effect when she had hoped.

“The monthly billing is not going to happened by Dec. 1. This is something were working with our vendor on,” Kinser said.

At the earliest, monthly billing will be up and running by Jan. 1.

Committee members will receive an update on the money received from the special flat fee bills during the December IOC meeting.
