CLINTON —
None of Ashford University’s job cuts or reorganization will affect the Clinton workforce, according to media relations officer Marianne Perez.
Bridgepoint Education, Ashford’s parent company, on Monday, announced 450 job cuts to its San Diego and Denver locations.
They simultaneously announced 200 admissions employees have been reassigned to positions within a new department of Student Inquiry and another 200 have been reassigned to the Student Services department. None of those employees are based in Clinton, Perez said via e-mail.
The for-profit university had an eventful summer. After being denied initial accreditation by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges because of its lack of focus on student achievement and retention, Ashford was placed on special monitoring status by its current accrediting body, the Higher Learning Commission.
Ashford has until Dec. 1 to demonstrate to the HLC how it will comply with the organization’s substantial presence requirement.
