CLINTON —
The Clinton County Sheriff’s Office took the first steps to negotiate a union contract proposal with the county.
The initial barraging position was presented to the Board of Supervisors at a meeting on Monday.
Annual base wages will increase over the prior year for all covered employees over the three-year collective barraging agreement.
During the first year of agreement wages will increase 3.5 percent, followed by 3 percent in the second and third years.
No covered employee may take more than five days of comp time in any 30-day period and that comp time is capped at 180 days. Retiring employees will receive 50 percent of their accumulated sick time paid out to the employee at minimum wage rates
When an employee is served with a subpoena, he or she will be entitled to a minimum of two paid hours at their base rate regardless of whether the employee actually testifies or the case is resolved without their testimony. Through the agreement, employees receive a shift differential during second and third shifts by the hour at 50 cents and $1 respectively. Sworn deputies and correctional officers also each receive a boot/shoe allowance for the maximum of $150 per year.
The next step in the process will involve an initial bargaining session between the two groups and a presentation of the county’s initial bargaining position.
